Adam Magazine on the Crazy Years

Looting, killing and raping -- by twisting their words they call it "empire"; and wherever they have created a wilderness they call it "peace" -- Tacitus

Another posting of my standup on June 22, 2006.

BFHD; and a pig in sunglasses.

The British are all bothered because it hit 97 degrees yesterday. We laugh at 97 degrees.

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Bacon heat breaks records: "Britain's hottest July temperature on record was broken today with the heatwave hitting 36.3C (97.3F) at Charlwood near Gatwick.

The record temperature was recorded in the town at 2.32pm, breaking the previous July high of 36C (96.8F) set in 1911 at Epsom, Surrey, according to PA Weather Centre."

But this article was the occasion for the Guardian to run a picture of a pig wearing shades.

Bush's first veto -- of course its anti-science and hurts the suffering.

What an ass.

Bush Vetoes Stem Cell Bill As Promised: "President Bush cast the first veto of his 5 1/2-year presidency Wednesday, rejecting legislation to ease limits on federal funding for research on stem cells obtained from embryos.

'This bill would support the taking of innocent human life of the hope of finding medical benefits for others. It crosses a moral boundary that our society needs to respect, so I vetoed it,' Bush said at a White House event where he was surrounded by 18 families who 'adopted' frozen embryos that were not used by other couples, and then used those leftover embryos to have children."

Gonzales says it -- Bush blocked DOJ investigation of illegal eavesdropping

The Bush Administration is brilliant. They break the law, then prevent the professionals in the Justice Department from investigating it.

Gonzales: Bush Blocked Eavesdropping Probe: "During an appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Gonzales was questioned by the panel's chairman, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), on why staffers in the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility were not allowed security clearances necessary to conduct an investigation into the eavesdropping program.

'It was highly classified, very important and many other lawyers had access,' Specter asked. 'Why not OPR?'

'The president of the United States makes the decision,' Gonzales answered.

The exchange was part of a wide-ranging and often tense hearing touching on many of the most controversial topics related to the Justice Department, from leak prosecutions to the Supreme Court's recent ruling invalidating the Bush administration's commissions for detainees in military custody."

Crazy, hot, teacher goes to the pokey for 7 years.

My Way News - Ex-Teacher Goes to Jail for Nude Photos: "A judge ignored a former teacher's sobbing pleas for mercy Friday and sentenced her to seven years in prison on charges that she sent explicit photos to a young teenager while on probation for having sex with him.
When Pamela Rogers, 29, was released after serving 198 days in jail, she was under orders not to contact the student or his family or use the Internet. But authorities say that even after appearing in court on a charge of violating her probation in April, she continued talking with the boy and sending him text messages and sexually explicit photos and video of herself.

'You have done everything except show this court that you wanted to rehabilitate yourself,' Warren County Circuit Judge Bart Stanley said. He revoked Rogers' probation and ordered her to serve the rest of a seven-year prison sentence that had been largely suspended.

Officers led Rogers away after she stood before the judge handcuffed and shackled. She cried as she asked for mercy and apologized to her family, the teen's family, her relatives and friends."

Bush sexually harrasses Angela Merkel

No, really. He gives an unwanted neck massage at the G8 meeting to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Would he do this to Putin? I don't think so. Look at video or photos (click the image on the left for video, on the right for photos).

Bush is one seriously weird dude. I might cop a feel at a G8 meeting, but at least I would be drunk. There is a story about Pompey the Great, Caeasar's great rival, that he was so inexperienced in politics when he became consul that he had to hire someone to teach him how to behave at public rituals. Can we get that guy for Bush?

This reminds me of Cheney in his parka at Auschwitz. These bastards have no class.
