Today is the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. There ought to be a way for us to commemorate the event without either (a) blaming the people who dropped the bomb or (b) washing away the sins of the Japanese Empire. I don't think it's inconsistent to believe that the use of atomic weapons against Japan was a terrible error, but not a war crime.
